when we said our final farewell.
Saudade filled the sky as we viewed only her child’s balloon,
float away into the clouds.
As if she wanted us to know she was feeling saudade also.
Saudade fills her parents eyes.
Saudade lingers with us all at times unexpectedly,
and fills the room with its stale perfume.

“Say the word”
Saudade. (Portuguese) A deep emotional state of nostalgic
or profound melancholic longing for an absent something
or someone that one loves.
The repetition of the word "saudade" amplifies the feeling of longing. It lingers at all times in the poem, as the feeling itself lingers.
